Laundry & Travel

Since you can only pack what you can carry, I pack clothes that can be washed in the tub/sink and then hung to dry overnight. The items are made of mixed materials and never linen or 100% cotton.  Knowing the item will dry and not need ironing is a main decision for it earning a place in my limited size suitcase.  You may also want to think about packing items that you can leave behind and replace with new shopping items!

Of the three pants packed, one pair can be laundered in my hotel room if by chance they need it - three full days is good, four is pushing it without laundering.  I buy Tide or Woolite packets that usually can be found in +Target stores.  Upon washing an item, roll it in a towel to squeeze out any excess water before hanging.  If you are prepared to wash a top or two and a pair of pants, you now have room for accessories.

Unfortunately, laundry service is very expensive but you can handle it yourself in your hotel.  I'm not tiny and each piece in the suitcase must count and be travel washable. To keep myself from getting sick of wearing the same thing for two weeks straight, I don't wear these clothes at home. They are set aside as travel only. This also reduces my stress level when it's time to pack for the next trip!

  1. Like the idea of taking clothes you were going to give away and leave for someone else to enjoy!
